Voyage Management & Monitoring
A successful fixture is only the beginning of a successful voyage.
Once a vessel is fixed, careful follow-up becomes essential. Delays, documentation issues, port restrictions, weather conditions, cargo readiness and communication gaps can all create unexpected costs if they are not identified and managed early.
At Veritas, voyage management means maintaining control of the operation from fixture through final completion.
Continuous Operational Follow-Up
We closely monitor key milestones throughout the voyage, including vessel position, ETA updates, laycan compliance, loading readiness, port developments and discharging progress.
Our role is not limited to receiving information from third parties.
We review developments in context, identify potential risks and ensure that the client understands how operational changes may affect the commercial outcome of the shipment.
Coordination Between All Parties
Bulk and chartered shipments often involve multiple parties: owners, brokers, agents, terminals, surveyors, suppliers, receivers and port authorities.
Effective voyage management depends on keeping these parties aligned.
Veritas coordinates the flow of information between relevant stakeholders, follows outstanding actions and helps prevent communication gaps from becoming operational problems.
Where necessary, we also challenge information, request clarification and escalate issues before they become more difficult or more costly to resolve.
Managing Time and Cost Exposure
In chartering, time has a direct financial value.
Delays in loading or discharging can create demurrage exposure, while poor coordination may result in missed laycan, additional port costs or unnecessary waiting time.
We therefore monitor operational performance together with the contractual terms agreed under the fixture.
This allows us to identify potential exposure early and, where possible, help the client take preventive action.
Clear Reporting, Practical Decisions
Our clients are kept informed through clear and relevant operational updates.
We focus on the information that affects the shipment and the business decision behind it, rather than simply forwarding large volumes of operational messages.
When a problem arises, we aim to explain: what has happened, what the potential impact may be, what alternatives are available, and what action we recommend.
The objective is not merely to report developments, but to make them easier to manage.
From Fixture to Final Completion
Our involvement continues through loading, voyage execution and discharge until the operation is commercially and operationally completed.
Where required, we can also support post-voyage matters such as laytime review, demurrage discussions, document follow-up and reconciliation of operational events.
For Veritas, voyage management is about maintaining visibility, control and accountability throughout the entire process.
Because the quality of a maritime operation is not defined only by how the voyage begins.
It is defined by how well it is managed until the very end.
